Letter from the CEO

Dear YMCA Friends:

I hope you’ve seen some changes in recent months regarding our new brand: The Y. We have a new logo and we’re sharpening our focus around the three key areas where we impact lives: Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.

The new logo reflects the vibrancy of our organization and the diversity of the communities we serve. And, for the first time, it actually includes the letters YMCA! We’ll say “The Y” more frequently, because that’s what most people call us, but you’ll still see YMCA.

The Y has been one of the most important nonprofits in the United States for decades—and many people never knew we were a nonprofit organization! We are changing how we talk about ourselves so that people better understand the benefits of the work we do in our community: helping more kids reach their potential, helping more individuals and families achieve better health outcomes and encouraging everyone to help make our community a better place.

Now, I want to remind you of some very important things at the Y that have not changed:

· Our name is still the Kennebec Valley YMCA.

· Our mission is to provide the community an inspirational environment for the enrichment of all people, through social, recreational and learning activities.

· Our values are still Respect, Caring, Honesty and Responsibility.

· Our core programs that you know and value will remain.

· Our commitment to serving ALL, regardless of age, race, creed, gender, economic circumstances and physical or mental abilities, remains steadfast.

Your Y’s impact will continue to be measured not by what we say, but by what we do. We have much work ahead of us, but I know we can make the Y better for everyone in our community.
