New Member Support

Not sure how to go about getting started at the Y with all the options available? Our fitness staff can help you! Call Nikki Ramage at 626-3488 or e-mail nikki@kvymca.org.

Just Getting Started?  Give yourself a pat on the back for walking in the door of the Y- and thank you for choosing the KV?YMCA!

The hardest part of any good exercise routine is getting started and sticking with it. The staff here at the KV YMCA is here to support you and to help you find the right match for your schedule, your interests and your comfort level. The social support that our members give each other is also a positive factor in exercise adherence. We guarantee you will find and enjoy camaraderie at our Y!

Once you become a member, we highly encourage you to schedule a free equipment orientation to our Fitness Centers, so you can feel confident that you will be using the cardio and strength training machines safely and effectively. Our fitness staff is also available to consult with by appointment to determine the best combination of activities to pursue at the Y depending on your goals and your health history. We have many group exercise classes that are geared to novice exercisers or those looking for a low impact approach to aerobic workouts, and classes that take the "worry and wonder" out of what is best to do with dumbbells, tubing, mats and balls.

Ask at the Membership Services Desk for your take home copy of our most current Group Exercise Schedule which features all free classes offered weekly in Augusta, Manchester, and in our pools! We update this seasonally or as changes and additions take place. Class descriptions are on the back side of this sheet. Please know that you are welcome to try any class on the schedule, no matter what your fitness level is. Our instructors are certified and trained to help you with modifications as needed.

For further questions or if you have feedback to offer us regarding our Wellness and Fitness Programming, please contact Nikki Ramage at 626-3488, ext. 124 or nikki@kvymca.org.
