Endowment

The KVYMCA Board of Directors has established a committee to help grow our annual campaign and our endowment. Mike Seitzinger, Chairs the Committee. “We have just begun to meet and discuss ways to grow our endowment” said Seitzinger. “A healthy endowment will allow us to continue to operate successfully at our Manchester and Augusta Campuses and also position us to succeed when we build our new Augusta facility.” In short, an endowment is money that is set aside with the understanding that just the interest earned on the money will be used to advance YMCA programs and activities. For example, a $1 million endowment might generate $30,000 annually that could be used toward support of the KVYMCA. Donations to the endowment can be as little as a few thousand dollars to as much as the donor would like to give. Some YMCA’s in Maine have endowments over $500,000.
